following a large protest that disrupted service in san francisco last night. today two separate review panels will look into the deadly bart shooting that sparked the demonstration. i'm terry mcsweeney in for eric thomas. >> i'm kristen sze. had late last night, a crash at the front door woke them up at a fire station an suv came off a ramp and plowed into one of two doors at fire station 27 on de anza boulevard. investigators say they believe the woman behind the wheel may have been driving under the influence. she was taken away in an ambulance with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries. meanwhile, expensive repairs will have to be made on that fire station door. this morning, bart begins two separate reviews of the july 3rd shooting of a man in san francisco. san francisco police are also reviewing it. now yesterday demonstrators

protested the shooting shut down several stations. lilian kim has more. >> they got the crowd going but things escalated when a protestor climbed on one of the trains. the tension however continued to mount. half the group boarded the train to get their message out. >> the protest was in honor of charles hill the knife-wielding man that was shot and killed. >> bart's conduct is outrageous, these people have no business going around in public with guns and killing people. >> in all, three bart stations report the shutdown. civic street powell street and 15th street. reaction was mixed. >> are you angry at the protestors?

>> oh, yeah. >> it comes with the territory just being in san francisco. >> later on a splinter group marched on mission and marketing street. on the way we saw one protestor place a poster on one street. protestors came face to face with police in riot gear. >> there was a lot of yelling on the part of the protestors. >> there is only one arrest. they said they arrested someone for public intoxication. lilian kim, "abc 7 news." >> bart is also unveiling plans for greater oversight of its police force. yesterday it outlined a new citizen oversight committee and introduced a new police auditor. they say his probe into last week's shooting will parallel those conducted by bart police, san francisco police and the district attorney but will operate independently from each

of those agencies. bart's board of directors will take up the shooting on the regularly scheduled meeting on thursday. >> today the trustees of largest university system will set to vote for a massive tuition hike for september. nick smith is live at san francisco state with the fees and factors. >> good morning. the campuses could be a lot mr. expensive this year about f the board of trustees has their way. they will consider a plan to raise tuition and this would be in addition to the 10%, taking the previously approved 10% and this suggested 12% hike, students would be paying $1200 a

year more, raising tuition by $588 to a whopping $5472. that will not include room, board or campus fees. system isn't alone. u.c. students face a 9.6% hike if the board of regents approve their increase this thursday. they could be ninth fee increase in eight years. as you might suspect both boards cite budget woes. they say the additional increase necessary because the newly approved state budget reduces funding by 650 amendment or more than 20%. now today, csu students plan to rally outside the board meeting in long beach. as you might also suspect, i don't believe we've heard the last of it. live at san francisco state, nick smith, "abc 7 news." pg&e is taking legal maneuvers to avoid paid

settlements of the victims of the pipeline explosion. they have filed court documents requesting a jury trial to fight more than 100 lawsuits filed by victims. they claim they don't have to pay the damage because the blast was caused by a third party, state of the art pipeline. they say it's standard part of the legal process. the seven fishermen missing this morning, one man died after the boat capsized. 28 others were rescued but seven remain missing. a dive team is about to search the wreckage of the ship which now rests on the sea floor, more than 200 feet below the surface. a c-130 crew will do an eighth day of searching by air. >> they nearly didn't the reward

by missing nursing student michelle le. it stands at $100,000. part of the money was donated by le's family members. she was last seen in hayward the are investigating her disappearance as a homicide but the family believes she may still be alive. police in pittsburg say a group of teens playing with a stolen gun is what caused a shooting that shut down the de anza trail yesterday morning. a 14-year-old boy was accidentally shot just before midnight on western railroad avenue. he is expected to recover. it's the second shooting in less than a week on the popular trail. last week a 20-year-old man was fatally shot there. in may a man was wounded on the trail in an unrelated attack. >> they want to decide if a new sales tax on online purchases should than overturned. amazon has filed a petition to

get it on ballot. it makes internet retailers to collect tax that buy in the state. animal rescue groups will take another crack at trying to save a distressed sea lion. the animal has a fishing line wrapped around the track. the vera family sent us these photos. they spotted the sea lion this week. workers tell "abc 7 news" that animal rescue experts have been unable to touch the animal. so they are just waiting until this morning to attempt another rescue. on the way to work this morning, windshield wipers from the golden gate bridge all the way down to lombord almost to here. >> mike? >> it's going to be around the next couple of mornings. good morning to you. that is why we're calling it january and july.

here is an area of low pressure coming down slowly sliding down from the gulf of alaska and like yesterday it's going to be hard to get sunshine in some areas, temperatures will be 8-15 degrees cooler than average. the cloud cover, 52 is the cool spot to about 58 in fremont. now let's take a look at the highs this afternoon, places that should be in the 90s. livermore, 70 today. 20 degrees cooler than average. 72 in concord. the farther you get inland more likely you will get some warmth. san jose, 70. mid to upper 60s around bay shore even a 60 in san francisco. 57 in half moon by, 73 in santa rosa. monterey bay, 50 in monterey. mid to upper is on a santa rosa and salinas and that is why we have low to mid-80s for gilroy and hollister, areas that should be near 90. seven-day forecast, it gets

along with secretary of state hillary clinton. former bits bill clinton and george w. bush will be there, as well. president obama and congressional leaders will sit down again this afternoon to try and reach an agreement on raising the debt ceiling, 90 minute meeting showed no sign of progress. they say it will be an everyday affair until there is an agreement. the stalemate over the deficit continues. today president obama sits down with deeply divided congressional leaders. he gave them a homework assignment. come back to the white house with a plan that increases the total deficit reduction from 1.7 fpld to $2.4 trillion. that could give republicans on board tax increases are not part of the deal. he ruled out a temporary

measure. the president is working for a bigger deal, $4 trillion in spending cuts and tax increases over the next decade. the clock is ticking. moody's has threatened to downgrade the credit rating before the credit defaults. americans will see an immediate effect. >> this is something we will all feel. it's something we on would feel in our retirement accounts and the flow of credit could come to a screeching halt. astronauts are prepares for the last space shuttle walk. two of them will be venturing out to retrieve a broken ammonia pump. two spacewalkers and crew will install a robotic refueling experiment. nasa says they are no longer concerned about having to dodge any space debris today.

55 in santa cruz and monterey, 57 in gilroy and salinas. i had to think there. i'm note a gambling man. breezy and more clouds and cooling and more drizzle tonight. hints of warmer weather next week. that is when i think we'll see temperatures back to average. for today, big story is how much cooler than where we should be or normal. 73 in oakland, 63 degrees and ten degrees cooler. san francisco 8. san jose 13 and biggest drop, livermore should be 88 today, only 70. redwood city, 16 degree drop. napa 11 degrees cooler than average. east bay valleys, not see the sunset at 8:33 because those are the areas that are most likely on able to see sunshine. clouds will increase over the next couple of hours and then slowly retreat by noon.

we have clouds everywhere except for the south bay. by 2:00 we'll see some of the sunshine break into the east bay valleys but around the bay itself a lot like yesterday. limited sunshine and temperatures in the 60s. we'll have 70s inland and 50s at the coast. we'll start around 67 in sunnyvale and 73 in los gatos. you see the clouds in the peninsula keeping you in the mid to upper 50s until you get to millbrae, 62. another wild day at the coast, no sunshine and quite breezy. near 50 in downtown and 62 in south san francisco. pat in petaluma and mid-70s santa rosa, sonoma, cloverdale. low to mid-50s until you get into the sunshine later around fremont, union city and castro valley. east bay valleys, you should be in the 90s and mid-70s today. mid to upper 50s for the rest of the bay and low to mid-70s inland. traveling the state, 79 in
